Today I’m sharing a little tour of my kids’ bathroom. We remodeled it a few years ago (before I started blogging), I repainted it about a year ago, and recently added some coastal inspired decor. I definitely have summer on my brain.
I haven’t shared it until now because it is a difficult space for me to photograph. It’s a bit small, the lighting is challenging, and photographing the high contrast white and blue is something I haven’t yet mastered. My photos are far from perfect, but they are the best I could do. I hope you enjoy seeing this space.
My favorite part about this bathroom is the board and batten wainscoting. I wish I could claim credit for it, but a very talented carpenter did all the millwork in this space.
The wall color is Benjamin Moore Newburyport Blue. It was so hard for me to get it to photograph accurately, but in person it’s a navy blue. I really like it with all the white going on. The little rug with the tassels and the white basket are both from HomeGoods.
I found this pretty blue pot the other day at a local Seattle store called City People’s Mercantile. I do love my blue.
The sea life artwork is from Etsy. I bought a whole set of them several years ago. They are blue sea life printed on vintage book pages. This one is a cuttlefish and the text underneath says, “Wanna cuttle?” It is framed in an simple white IKEA frame.
I like coastal decor, especially with navy and white. I think the key to pulling off a coastal look is to not go overboard (see what I did there?). With beach, nautical and coastal styles, it’s easy to end up with a space looking like Captain Jack’s sea shanty. Just a few touches are enough. Natural elements are especially nice.
My son found the shell when we were beachcombing in Florida. It’s kind of petrified and rustic, and only half a shell actually, which makes it so interesting to me. I’m using it as a little soap dish. The tile and counter top are carrara marble. The bridge faucet, made by Porcher, adds a sculptural element to the bathroom and has a vintage feel.
Thanks so much for stopping by today and touring my bathroom. Have a happy weekend.
